What is it like to live here?
The Castle District is one of Budapest's oldest neighbourhoods, home to Buda Castle, the Fisherman's Bastion and Matthias Church. Much of the area has a historic feel, with cobbled streets and elegant old buildings, while the adjoining Vízváros and Krisztinaváros are quiet, family-friendly residential pockets. The Castle itself is mainly a tourist destination and can get busy in summer.
Rentals here tend to be smaller, older properties, offered in exchange for a unique setting and exceptional views.
Getting around
The area is served by the M2 metro at Batthyány tér, plus trams 19 and 41, while the funicular and several bus routes climb up to the Castle itself. The city centre is an easy walk away across the Chain Bridge or Margaret Bridge.
